The story of how Bruce Wayne went through training. And this would be really cool if it was an actual standalone DLC story like "Cold, Cold Heart". But the way it was done is just lazy. They slapped together some challenges which, while interesting initially, become less interesting or even tedious as you play. Maybe it seems harsh but these DLCs are the reason why the game did not get patched properly as they focused on releasing these instead of polishing the main game. Maybe was worth as part of the Season Pass but that itself is not really worth the money anymore. Unless you are a DLC collector or die-hard Batman fan stay away from this...------------------------------------------------------------------If you liked this DLC review you can find more in my Review Corner.. This DLC managed to both be fantastic and underwhelming at the same time, how? It is simple, the character is fantastic, but the challange maps are abysmal, and instead of the full story we where promised, all we get is a challenge campaingn that features these maps.Let me break it all down for you:The maps:Togurake-Ryu:A somewhat difficult combat challenge that consists of four waves of enemies, the only new map that I would consider to be "good".Shinobi-Iri:A predator challenge that is passable, barely.Taijutsu:A two wave combat challenge that has the EXACT same layout of Togurake-Ryu, just different enemy patterns.Boryaku:An ABYSMAL predator challenge that you shouldn't even bother with.Seishinteki Kyoyo:A two wave combat challenge that has enemy patterns that are more obnoxious to deal with than anything else, and a p*ss-poor Lady Shiva fight cramed in.The character:Initiation Bruce Wayne is the fastest moving character in Arkham Origins (and my favorite), and has the unique distinction of not having to deal with the thugs being notified whenever you take someone out in predator maps. (other than the ones added in the DLC.)His combos:Special combo takedown:Same as it is for any other character.Shuriken barrage:Activated by pressing the same set of buttons as you would for the Bat-Swarm, (as Batman) you throw out a Barrage of shuriken that stun any enemies hit, and (If enough enemies are in range of the attack) three caltrops. His gadgets:Shuriken:Identical to the Batarang, exept you throw two at once.Caltrops:The same as the ones used by Catwoman in Arkham City.Grapple Hook:Robin's Zip-Kick.Kujiki Bomb:If quickfired during combat, this gadget acts as an alternative to the Multi-Ground Takedown combo, however, in predator maps, it functions as a cloaking device, allowing the player temporary invisiblity.Smoke Bomb:It is a smoke bomb, this one doesn't really need explaining.8.5\/10. Batman Arkham Origins Initiation is a great dlc! The lenght of the dlc is not not very long but it still has alot of good features.-You will be able to play Bruce Wayne as a new playable character for every challange map. It also includes a vigilante skin (that looks awesome)-New cool gadgets.-Very nice challenge maps! The combat maps are not very special and I do think that they could put a little more effort in them. But the predator maps are fantastic! They have very good replay value for those who like challenge maps.-All new enemy skins! They look real great. Especially the body armored enemy which is reskinned to a samurai.-Also very fun to experience the story about how Bruce Wayne trained to become Batman. Which is great for big Batman fans.I really do think that this dlc is worth the money. Especially if it is on sale.. Nice to play for Bruce Wayne, and not Batman for a change. The only bad thing is that Concentration (detective mode) gets scrambled by usual scrambling devices. Not making sense.. Extremely disapointed, I was expecting more content and story. It's just a few more levels in challenge mode, worse of all it glitched on last stage and went back to selection menu and all the trophies I earned where not saved...waste of time and money in my opinion. It's a shame too because I really enjoyed Arkham Origins and was hoping for more content.. Sadly this game is broken. Mobs get stuck in walls, clipping issues and once in a while a mob will do nothing. It lacks the heart and depth of Arkham City, which is huge. There are no grappling points giving you the ease of travel like Arkham City and sometimes ledges will be unobtainable. This is clearly a broken game with no patches coming forth. In saying all that, there are some nice things about the game. The graphics are good, sometimes really good and the combat can be fun and also frustrating. It is clearly not as polished as City was. I really dig the skins that are available, especially the Noel skin and the Gotham by Gaslight skin. Yet even with these benefits, the game still doesn't hold a candle to Arkham City although you can see the potential there. I also like the fact that the Batcave is available to retreat into once in awhile and the graphics dept did a great job. But the map access, you navigate through points with your keyboard and not your mouse, is cumbersome and tedious and not thought out, neither is the leveling skill set navigation. It all seems second thought.I am excited for Arkham Knight and this game is just a filler until it is available. Actually, just keep playing Arkham CIty until it comes out, it is not only a huge game, it has great replayability where this game, when you get to the point of seeing how broken it is, it just doesn't matter if you finish or not.. I've completed Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Origins (along with Cold, Cold Heart) before I bought Initiation. And there is one thing that makes it terrible for me. It's not the fact that it's four challenge maps stitched together by a flimsy narration. Whenever you lost the fight in other Batman: Arkham games (Origins included) you felt like it was your fault, the combat was tough but fair. There is no such feeling while playing Initiation. It's the first time DLC made me angry, like "delete the game and refund the thing" kind of angry. Every time you die it feels like the game is cheating. Not cool.. The 'Initiation' DLC is about Bruce Wayne's early years prior to becoming the Batman. On his quest to protecting the fearful ones, he will be trained and tested beyond physical limits by Master Kirigi, his former sensei. You get to play as both ninja and vigilante (skins) Bruce Wayne while making your way to Kirigi's dojo through 9 story-driven challenges, exclusively designed for Wayne's different gameplay. If you're one of those who didn't underrate Arkham Origins (the best of the franchise, in my honest opinion), then yes get the season pass and play it. It's a must-have DLC for every Batman fans alike.+ Play as ninja (trainee) or vigilante Bruce Wayne with different gadgets and arsenal+ Unique story-driven challenges+ new enemies + Boss battle- Vigilante story-driven challenges are absent. It's 2 regular challenge maps with no story.- More exclusive vigilante Bruce Wayne maps would have been appreciated. After using my detective skills to actually find the dlc in the menu this is what I found;First of all going off in the snowy mountains to do ninja training is the best back story ever, hell it worked for sub zero.Using the ninja skills such as the shurikens, caltrops, smoke etc was pretty cool, but there was no content. And on the predator map the ninjas were using machine guns which isn't very ninjery. So even if you love ninjas like I do (and by love I mean you think ninjas are really cool, not as in you want to marry one although that would be cool in its own way). I can not recommend this game.
